Screen brightness

LED screen brightness, measured in nits, determines how well content remains visible in different lighting conditions. For indoor advertising screens, brightness typically ranges from 500 to 1,500 nits, ensuring clear visuals without being overpowering. Outdoor LED screens require much higher brightness, usually between 5,000 and 10,000 nits, to combat direct sunlight and maintain vibrant, eye-catching displays in any weather.

Remote content management

Remote content management for LED advertising screens allows users to update, schedule, and control content from anywhere via cloud-based or networked systems. This ensures seamless operation for both indoor and outdoor screens, enabling businesses to instantly adapt messaging, promotions, or branding across multiple locations. With advanced scheduling features, content can be pre-set to run at specific times, maximising engagement while reducing manual effort and operational costs.

Pixel pitch

Pixel pitch refers to the distance between the centers of two adjacent pixels, typically measured in millimeters, and directly impacts the display's resolution and viewing distance. A smaller pixel pitch means higher pixel density, resulting in sharper image quality and better viewing experiences, especially at closer distances. The main benefits include improved visual clarity, seamless integration for large-scale displays, and suitability for applications like digital signage and professional presentations where detail and precision are critical.

In the UK, outdoor LED screen advertising is regulated to ensure public safety and maintain local amenity. The primary legislation is the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007, which outlines the requirements for displaying advertisements. Generally, illuminated advertisements, including LED screens, require express consent from the local planning authority before installation. This consent ensures that the advertisement does not adversely affect the visual character of the area or compromise public safety, especially concerning road users. All outdoor advertisements must adhere to five standard conditions. Maintenance: Advertisements must be kept clean and tidy. Safety: They must be maintained in a safe condition to prevent endangering the public. Landowner Permission: Consent from the landowner or property owner is required before display. Visibility: Advertisements should not obscure or hinder the interpretation of official road, rail, waterway, or aircraft signs, nor should they make the use of these forms of transport hazardous. Removal: Advertisements must be removed carefully when required by the planning authority. Additionally, the content of the display must comply with the UK Code of Non-Broadcast Advertising and Direct & Promotional Marketing (CAP Code). Advertisements should not be misleading or cause harm or offence. Considerations should also be given to potential light and noise pollution, especially if the display includes audio. Given the complexity of advertisement control regulations, it’s advisable to consult with your local planning authority or seek professional guidance to ensure full compliance before installing an outdoor LED advertising screen.
The ideal resolution depends on the viewing distance. For close-up indoor displays, high resolutions like P2.5 or P3 are best for sharp visuals. For outdoor screens viewed from a distance, P4 to P10 resolutions provide excellent clarity while being more cost-effective. We can advise on the best resolution for your application.
